OVERVIEW OF THE POOLS
These are the ONLY inflatable birth pools made from Eco plastic AND medically approved; no phthalates, lead or additives (which have been linked to causing infertility) - better for you, baby and the environment. Why take the time to prepare a beautiful, natural environment to labour at home and then immerse your new baby into a pool made from plastic which has been made with chemicals known to be harmful? We have researched the pools available and are so happy to offer you this pool.
'Birth Pool in a Box' pools are inflated with 3 separate chambers, which provide safety and strength- the most reliable we've found (many other types of pool seem to have problems with leaks and holes -we've never heard of a problem with Birth Pool in a Box pools). REALLY COMFY FOR KNEELING AND DRAPING YOURSELF ON THE SIDES. It also means the height of the pool is adjustable for your comfort.
Provided with a new eco liner for your use, which maintains the highest standards of hygiene and again will not expose you or your baby to phthalates or cadmium etc.
Designed with mothers and midwives - both report that these are fantastic pools to use; comfortable for moms and easy to work with for midwives and doulas.
Large enough to include your partner and still leave room to move around easily. Retains heat very efficiently - no need for a heater.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INFLATE?
About 10 minutes using our electric pump!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FILL WITH WATER?
That time really depends on the type of hot water system you have, the time is between 30 minutes and 2.5 hours. A powerful, on-demand water heater will fill the pool in around 30 or 40 minutes.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO EMPTY THE WATER USING SUBMERSIBLE PUMP?
Around 30 to 40 minutes.
MEASUREMENTS OF THE POOLS
To be effective for labour birth pools are recommended to have a depth of water around 20inches deep with a safe height on the sides of the pool above water, so as not to collapse the pool or lose water over the sides from movement or leaning. Recommended by Barbara Harper - author of 'Gentle Birth Choices' and founder of Waterbirth International.
The pools are egg shaped, so you can choose a wide space or a more secure space depending on how you feel.
External max dimensions - 76" x 65", 193 x 165cm
Internal max dimensions - 56" x 45", 142 x 114cm
Internal depth - 26", 66cm
Rim width - 10", 25cm
Weight when filled - 650kg plus mother (About the weight of 8 or 9 people sitting together)
Leave a little extra space (3 or 4 inches or so) aorund the outside of the pool because the pool will be a little wider when it's filled with water.
